How to Make Jello Popcorn – A Holiday Treat

Fun Jello Popcorn

Are you looking for a fun treat to make that does not take a lot of time or effort? Jello Popcorn may just be your answer.

This recipe takes only a few minutes to make, but is great for a special snack for your kids or even as a holiday gift for your coworkers and other hard-to-shop-for people in your life.

Everyone loves a nice homemade snack, and this is an extremely inexpensive option that will be the hit of any event!

Tip: For a bit of extra fun, make a few different jello popcorn mixes with different colors. Mix the final product together for a rainbow of popcorn fun!

  • 9 cups popped corn (see hints below on how to make the best popcorn!)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup Karo syrup
  • 3-oz. package Jell-O (you pick the flavor)

  • Combine sugar, Karo syrup and Jell-O in a saucepan. Stir slightly and bring to a rolling boil over medium high heat.
  • Remove Jell-O mixture from stove and gently pour over popped corn. Stir gently until the popcorn is evenly coated.
  • Shape popcorn into balls, or leave flat on a cookie sheet to harden.

My Number One Popcorn Tip!

Air-popped popcorn is fine. Microwaved popcorn is passable as well. But, if you want a truly delicious popcorn, you should invest a few dollars in a stovetop popcorn popper.

This simple tool will pay for itself very quickly and makes the best popcorn around! Hands-Down!

Add a couple of tablespoons of coconut oil to the bottom of the pan and turn the stove to medium-high. Add three or four kernels of popcorn to the oil and stir until they pop. Only after they pop should you add your full portion of popcorn kernels. The oil will be hot enough that the newly added popcorn will aggressively “pop” to their full size.

If you add the popcorn kernels to the oil before the oil is hot enough, it will sap some of the moisture from the unpopped kernels. That will result in hard kernels or under-popped popcorn.
